Ahoy, Hobart! First wednesday of every month, the good ship Shambles plays host to Hobart Shanty Sessions, a free, rollicking good time where everyone is welcome to raise their voice, raise a glass, and join in.
Never sung a shanty before? Perfect. The first couple of songs will be led by experienced seadogs to get everyone into the swing of things. Then the decks are open!
Throughout the evening, the Shanty Master will wander the room with a trusty belaying pin. Fancy leading a song? Let them know. If the pin lands in your hands, you’re next! ⚓️
And don’t worry if you can’t carry a tune in a bucket, shanties are for everyone. Whatever your gender, sexuality, race, religion, musical ability or complete lack thereof, you’re welcome aboard.
So bring your mates, bring your voice, bring your best sea legs, or just come along for the atmosphere and a few beers. 🍺

Thursdays 7pm to 9pm
(Almost) every Thursday, 7–9pm, Michael Blake takes the reins and throws down a trivia night like no other. One week it’s obscure knowledge, the next it’s paper-folding prowess or a truly unhinged Chewbacca impression. Honestly, it depends on his mood, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Fly solo or roll in with your smartest (or weirdest) friends. Booking a table is strongly recommended!
